FORTHCOMING EVENTS:

Open Mic - Christmas Quiz
7pm for 7:30 on Tuesday 8th December at Old Victoria pub

This will be our last visit to the Old Victoria pub so let's make it a good one!

Sam has devised a poetry quiz to test our knowledge of several million poems but only several thousand poets so it should be a breeze! He is good at this so expect a few groans and a lot of fun!

And of course we have Open Mic to relax into as the evening evolves.

AGM and "Friends of Poetry Swindon" Party
7pm on Saturday 30th January 2016 at Richard Jeffries Museum

Our plan is to move the annual AGM to January in future years and encourage "Friends of Poetry Swindon" to come along and share our plans. Do bring your friends!

After the AGM we will have a “knees-up” session and food and an Open Mic so be prepared for a bit of craic!

the marigold at the sun's eye - a workshop
Sunday 24th January at Richard Jefferies Museum from 4pm

Hilda Sheehan will conduct a workshop to discover the sonnet through reading, discussion and writing.

How do we master metaphor in our own poems, in free verse and other forms? What can the Shakespearean sonnet show us to help us better understand what makes a poem successful? We will also look at modern sonnets and have a go at writing some.

Places are limited for this workshop so please book now.
